What Stranger at My Door Is About

Clay Anderson and his gang rob the town bank and scatter in different directions. When Clay’s horse goes lame he has to pull up at a nearby farm. The farm belongs to Hollis Jarret, the local preacher, newly married and with a son from an earlier marriage. Clay passes himself off as a weary traveller and hopes to hide there. But the preacher is not fooled. He lets him stay a few days all the same. His reason is not the safety of his family; he believes he can change the man. For that he trusts to time, patience and faith. But Clay’s road runs deeper than the preacher supposed. Macdonald Carey appears in William Witney’s American film of 1956, eighty five minutes long.
