What Support Your Local Gunfighter Is About
Support Your Local Gunfighter isn't a direct sequel; it was made in 1971 as a spiritual follow up after 1969's Support Your Local Sheriff! became a big hit. Most of the same creative team reunited, with director Burt Kennedy and star James Garner returning, but Garner plays an entirely different character this time, a con artist on the run from marriage named Latigo. Who it's for: anyone curious about a western comedy made by the same creative team as a previous hit, without being an official sequel. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a direct continuation of the first film's characters, since this is an entirely new character.
