Tailor

Nikos is a man of fifty in an Athens tailor shop he inherited from his father. He lives in the attic above the shop and barely speaks to anyone. The bank is preparing to take the shop, his father falls ill, and the arrangement collapses all at once. Nikos builds a tailor's cart on wheels and takes it out into the street. For the first time in his life he meets people. Sonia Liza Kenterman's first feature is a co-production between Greece, Germany and Belgium. Kenterman wrote the screenplay with Tracy Sunderland. The film puts an Athens in crisis in the background without tying the story to it; what it is really about is a man starting his own life late. Dimitris Imellos carries the part with almost no dialogue. The telling stays calm between comedy and sadness.
