Taxi Drivers

Bucharest over a single night. Lică and Liviu are two taxi drivers and two old friends. Lică thinks he knows everything and says so; Liviu says little and keeps most of it to himself. For one of them what matters is money, for the other something else. Through the night the passengers who get in change the day for both of them. Bogdan Theodor Olteanu's Romanian comedy tells the city through its passengers: each one who gets in brings a new story, some comic, some painful. The telling does not build up to a big event; what happens is the night itself. Alexandru Ion and Rolando Matsangos take the leads. The tone rests on talk, and the dialogue is the film's strongest side.
