The Aga's Testament

The film is set in the year 1585. In those years the Latrany region is being looted. Those doing the looting are Ottoman troops and Walloons. The Hungarian nobleman Babocsai Gáspár is killed in a duel. The man who kills him is an Ottoman commander named Aga Oglu. Gáspár’s son László is left behind. His mother tries to keep him away from weapons. But a year later László wants the duel renewed. He first learns the sword from the knights of the Fonyod fortress. He then faces the Aga and beats him. In his last moments the Aga accepts the defeat. He leaves his wealth to László and entrusts his daughter to him. The film was adapted from a novel by István Fekete, and Ferenc Bessenyei and Péter Benkő take the leads in Éva Zsurzs’s Hungarian film of 1967.
