The Albanian Virgin

Albania, 1958. Luana, the daughter of a man whose word carries weight in the village, becomes friends with Agim, whose family was driven out of the city by the communist authorities. Years later the childhood friendship turns into the love of two young people, but the road ahead of it is closed from the start: while Luana was still a child her father promised her to someone else. When the father learns what has happened he is furious and moves at once to have his daughter married to the man he chose. Two roads lie in front of Luana: to try to leave the country with the man she loves, or to stay bound to her family. Rina Krasniqi appears in Bujar Alimani’s hundred and fourteen minute Albanian film, completed in 2023.
