The Barrier

Antoni is a composer in middle age. His life is orderly and measured. One night he meets Dorotea by chance. The young woman is fragile and out of the ordinary. Antoni takes her into his house. She stays there for a time. Dorotea’s way of seeing the world is entirely different. She talks about flying and about dreams. The composer is drawn into what she says. A bond forms between the two of them. But the distance between them grows as well. Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy and Vania Tzvetkova take the leads, with Evgeniya Barakova and Ivan Kondov also in the cast, in Christo Christov’s Bulgarian film of 1979.
