What The Black Tavern Is About
A rumour is going round. An official leaving his post has set out on a journey. He is said to be carrying a chest. In the chest are the valuables he gathered over the years. On the way he is to stop at a remote inn. Everyone who hears of it heads there. The inn fills with people who know how to fight. All of them mean to get hold of the chest. Inside the inn it is not clear who is who. Everyone appears to be someone else. Alliances are made and broken indoors. The waiting sharpens the tension. Shih Szu and Tung Li take the leads, with Ku Feng also in the cast, in Teddy Yip Wing-Cho’s Hong Kong film of 1972.
