What The Blue Trail Is About
In a near-future Brazil the government sets up a system that removes the old from production and confines them to a colony in the name of economic recovery. The threshold, once eighty, is suddenly lowered, and seventy-seven-year-old Teca in the Amazon falls inside it. She refuses to go, slipping into the rivers, the boats and the world of those who travel unseen, trying to do the one thing she still wants: to fly in a plane. Gabriel Mascaro shoots the dystopia as a warm, colourful journey rather than a cold future. It won the grand jury prize at Berlin in 2025.
