What The Boxcar Children Is About
Kyungho Jo's 2014 animated film is adapted from the children's book series of the same name. Four siblings who have lost their parents find an abandoned boxcar and turn it into a home: they hang curtains, set up a kitchen, build an order of their own. Afraid of being sent to live with a grandfather they have never met, they keep the new home a secret. The film puts the children standing on their own feet at the centre and moves in a calm tone without overplaying the danger. Mackenzie Foy, Joey King, Zachary Gordon and Martin Sheen are among the voices. A short, gentle adaptation made for young children.
