What The Curse of the Crying Woman Is About
A young woman inherits a large house and moves in, and it does not take long to work out that somebody inside has been waiting for her. The place is full of witches, of things that did not stay dead, and of an old curse that needs one more person to complete it. Rafael Baledón puts the Mexican legend of La Llorona, the weeping woman, into a gothic horror frame. Fog in the corridors, cellars, candlelight: a local story told in the visual language of the Universal horror pictures, and it is over in eighty minutes. It belongs to the strong vein of Mexican gothic horror of the early sixties.
