The Die Is Cast

Felipe wants to be an actor and, after one unfortunate incident, becomes convinced that he is jinxed. Whatever he does goes wrong, and he grows certain that there is a cause and that finding the cause will produce the cure. His half-brother is not doing much better. In the end the two of them come together and set out to complete a dream of their father's that never happened. Sebastián Borensztein's Argentine comedy takes on the relationship between superstition and failure: why does a person want so badly to blame their own mistakes on bad luck. The tone is light, but a father-and-son question sits underneath it; what is inherited is not money but an unfinished dream. Borensztein would become known in later years for films with a similar tone, bringing lonely people together.
