What The Feasts of Valtasar, or The Night with Stalin Is About
The story takes place in the coastal town of Gagra on the Black Sea. A dance troupe has been summoned there. The troupe comes from Abkhazia in western Georgia. One night lies in front of them. That night they are to perform for Stalin. Other high ranking officials are in the room as well. Lavrentiy Beria is one of them. The Abkhaz leader Nestor Lakoba is there too. The night is arranged as a feast. Food, drink and performance run into one another. A constant tension hangs in the air, though. Everyone is watching what Stalin will say.
