The Furies

Mélanie Charbonneau's 2025 Quebec film follows women hockey players who lose their ice time. When the arena is handed to a semi-professional men's team, the amateur league is left outside. A young player and an old woman, a former derby champion, make a plan. The film gives the founding of an underground league as comedy; the narrative finds the anger justified and makes the violence part of the joke. Anne-Élisabeth Bossé and France Castel appear. The tone is fast and broad. The production is mid-scale. Who it's for: those who like Quebec comedy and sports films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a realistic sports narrative; the film leans on exaggeration.
