The Grocer's Son

Antoine left his village for the city ten years ago. He is thirty and has got nowhere there either. His father is a travelling grocer who drives his van from village to village bringing shopping to the old people. When the man ends up in hospital, Antoine comes back without wanting to and takes over the round. The customers live alone; what they want is less the shopping than the conversation. At first Antoine has no patience for it, then he notices the round is doing him good. Éric Guirado directs, with Nicolas Cazalé as Antoine and Clotilde Hesme as the woman beside him. It was filmed in the villages of southern France. Nothing large happens; a job and a father are taken over.
