The Last Schoolbell

Students at a secondary school are preparing a play. The play they have chosen is a political text. They want to stage it. The headmaster does not look kindly on it. That is where the tension starts. Then the two sides come into open conflict. The students do not back down. Arguments break out among them too. Some want to go on and some are afraid. The conflict inside the school grows. The story also points beyond the school walls. The years are the eighties and the country is Poland. The tension in the country echoes inside the classroom. The film tells this without shouting slogans. Zbigniew Suszyński and Agnieszka Kowalska appear in the hundred and eight minute film, a Polish production Magdalena Łazarkiewicz finished in 1989.
