What The Letters Is About
Takeshi is serving a life sentence for a crime he committed for the sake of his younger brother Naoki. A letter comes from the prison once a month. But the effect of the crime keeps working on the brother left outside: Naoki is marked as a murderer’s brother and loses the woman he loves, his work and what he wanted to do. His situation begins to change when he meets Yumiko, who stays beside him. To protect what he has finally found, he starts writing a letter to his brother. The film is about how a sentence does not fall on the sentenced alone. Takayuki Yamada plays the lead in Jiro Shono’s hundred and twenty one minute Japanese film, completed in 2006.
