An evil being called Bash Chelik is terrorising the people, and the only thing that can harm him is the magic sword. A young hero sets out on a dangerous journey to find it. Along the way he meets giants, witches and obstacles that test his own courage. The film was adapted from Serbian folk tales and became one of the first attempts to bring a fairy tale to the screen on a large scale in postwar Yugoslav cinema. The account speaks to children and adults at the same time. Rade Markovic and Milivoje Zivanovic appear in Vojislav Nanovic’s hundred and one minute Yugoslav film, completed in 1950.
