What The Milkwoman Is About
Minako is a woman of fifty. She is single and lives alone. Her day starts early in the morning. She delivers milk door to door up and down the hills of her town. When that is done she goes to the supermarket. She works there as a cashier. In one of the houses where she leaves milk there is a man. She has quietly loved Keita since their high school years. The man is married. His wife Yoko is gravely ill. Keita cares for her at home. He works in the children’s section of the local council. He says he wants nothing but an ordinary life. Yet something in him will not settle. The film sets loneliness and hope side by side. Yuko Tanaka and Ittoku Kishibe appear in the one hundred twenty seven minute film, a Japanese production Akira Ogata finished in 2005.
