What The Moth Is About

Jan presents a radio programme that goes out at night; he listens to the troubles of the people who call in and tries to give them counsel. He has given himself over to helping these lonely people, but his colleagues and his superiors at the station do not see the point of the programme, and that wears him down. His own life is coming apart at the edges too: his wife drinks heavily, and his mistress has no idea who he is or what he is doing. The anger that gathers from not being seen reaches, after a while, the level at which it will spill. Roman Wilhelmi plays the lead in Tomasz Zygadlo’s hundred minute Polish film, completed in 1980.
