The Murderer Dmitri Karamazov

Dimitri Karamazov is a lieutenant in the army of the Tsar. To be able to marry he has to pay three thousand roubles to his regiment. He cannot raise the money on his own. He goes to his father to ask for help. Old Karamazov has neither the time nor the money for him. The old man spends each day waiting for a woman named Grushenka. He intends to marry her himself. With nowhere else to turn, Dimitri goes to the house of Grushenka. Something neither of them planned happens there. Father and son now want the same woman. The tension between them grows quickly. Then the old man is killed. Suspicion settles straight onto Dimitri. From there the film turns into a criminal story. The script was built on motifs taken from the novel by Dostoevsky. Fritz Kortner and Anna Sten appear in the ninety three minute film, a German production Erich Engels and Fyodor Otsep finished in 1931.
