The Price of Protest

The date is the first of September 2016. The place is the United States. The American football player Colin Kaepernick kneels during the national anthem. His action is against police violence towards Black people. That gesture sets off a large argument in the country. One part of the public counts it an insult to the flag. The reaction grows quickly. Kaepernick later loses his place on his team. Today there are people who count him a hero. The film sets those two views side by side. Nate Boyer and Kent Babb are among those who speak. Lilian Thuram and Scott Ostler are in Annebeth Jacobsen’s French and German coproduction of 2019, which runs fifty two minutes.
