What The Rocket Post Is About
The film is set in the middle of the nineteen thirties. The place is a small island off the coast of Scotland. A German engineer arrives on the island. The man’s name is Gerhard Zucker. He is trying to carry post by rocket. His aim is to set up a link between the island and the mainland. The islanders do not welcome him. Being a foreigner and being German does not inspire trust. As time passes their attitude softens. The man carries on with his work and runs his tests. A young woman from the island grows close to him. A bond forms between him and Catriona. War, though, is drawing near in Europe. The man’s nationality makes everything harder. Ulrich Thomsen and Shauna Macdonald appear in the hundred and twelve minute film, a British production Stephen Whittaker finished in 2004.
