What The Saint Takes Over Is About
The film tells one of the adventures of a crime fighter who came from books and is known for taking from the rich and giving to the poor. The matter this time is what happens to a police inspector: he is framed by the gang he is investigating and made to look guilty. Clearing his name falls not to him but to our hero. The account moves short and fast, on the measure of the detective pictures the American studios turned out in series in the forties. It is the fifth film in the series. The account builds its hero less as a detective than as a corrector who sets his own rules. George Sanders and Wendy Barrie appear in Jack Hively’s sixty nine minute American film, completed in 1940.
