Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's 2014 documentary follows a Brazilian who photographed the world for forty years. His son carries a camera too. What he saw wore him out. The film puts the photographs on screen in black and white; the narrative shows the replanting of a forest in its last section. It rests on Sebastiao Salgado's own account. It was nominated for an Academy Award. It won a prize at Cannes. Who it's for: those who like photography and documentary. Who it's not for: viewers who cannot take images of famine, war and mass death; the frames are detailed.
