What The Sicilian Girl Is About

Rita is seventeen, a girl from a mafia family in Sicily. Her father and her brother have been murdered and she knows who killed both of them. At the end of 1991 she goes to the prosecutor Paolo Borsellino and tells him everything she knows. It is the first time a young woman from inside such a family has spoken. From that day Rita is under protection, rejected by her own family, and alone. Marco Amenta's film is based on the true story of Rita Atria; he had already made a documentary on the same subject. Atria took her own life a week after Borsellino was killed in a bombing in 1992. Veronica D'Agostino plays Rita.
