What The Track Is About

Somewhere in rural France, a young English visitor out looking at a house is attacked and raped by two men. She gets away. But when a party of local men out hunting that day learn what has happened, they decide not to protect her but to get rid of her: no scandal, no names dragged through it. So they start hunting her with their shotguns. Nobody objects; they all come from the same circle and they all know each other. Serge Leroy directs, with Mimsy Farmer as the woman, alongside Michael Lonsdale, Jean-Pierre Marielle and Philippe Léotard. It is among the harshest French thrillers of the seventies, and what it is really about is a community's reflex to protect itself.
