What Three Sinners Is About

A man helps his wife to die when there is no longer any hope of recovery and she is in great pain, and rather than hide it he wants to go before a court. But his brothers will not have it; to keep the family name unstained they try everything, working to close the matter and to silence him. So before there is any courtroom, another trial opens inside the house, and what each of them wants to protect comes out. Richard Pottier’s hundred and twenty minute French film tells the question of a right to die from inside a family reckoning and takes no side. Fernandel takes the lead, with a young Jeanne Moreau in the cast. It was completed in 1950.
