Traveling Companion

Cora is a young woman in Rome who lives on temporary work. One day a woman called Ada gives her a job. The job is this: to keep watch on Ada’s father, Cosimo. Cosimo is a retired professor whose memory has weakened; he leaves the house and forgets the way back. Because he will not accept help, Cora is to follow him from a distance and without being seen. But one day Cosimo boards a train heading north. Cora goes after him and the job turns into something else entirely. Over the journey the two of them begin to know each other. An unexpected affinity comes out of it. Asia Argento and Michel Piccoli take the leads in Peter Del Monte’s Italian film of 1996.
