Truants

Six friends come together at intervals across seven years. The place is always the same: the island where their shared past took place. Each time they return they bring with them the results of their own choices. They bring something else as well: the mark a changing Greece has left on them. Society changes them slowly but surely, and the bond among them wears thin. By the end of that period they are scattered in different places. In front of them is a new age in which individual ambition comes first. The film builds a story of a generation out of these reunions alone. Nikos Georgakis and Vangelis Mourikis appear in Nikos Grammatikos’s hundred and fifteen minute Greek film, completed in 1996.
