Un uomo perbene

In June 1983 the journalist and television presenter Enzo Tortora was arrested. The charges were drug trafficking and membership of the Camorra. They rested on statements by people from the criminal world, statements that later proved unreliable. Tortora spent seven months in prison and five more under house arrest. In 1985 he was sentenced at first instance to ten years. The appeal court in Naples acquitted him fully in 1986, and the decision was upheld on cassation in 1987. Tortora died in 1988. The film tells that whole process through one man. Michele Placido and Stefano Accorsi appear in Maurizio Zaccaro’s hundred and nineteen minute Italian film, completed in 1999.
