What Vajont Is About

9 October 1963, 22:39. An enormous mass of rock slides off Mount Toc into the lake behind the Vajont dam and raises a wave two hundred and fifty metres high. The water goes over the top of the dam and wipes out the towns below; around two thousand people die. The terrible detail is this: the dam did not break and is still standing. The film starts years earlier. Tina Merlin of the newspaper L'Unità wrote about the danger repeatedly, was ignored, and was prosecuted for what she wrote. This is not a disaster film but an account of how negligence and silencing work.
