Sobhan's 2004 Telugu film follows Venkat and Sailaja, who meet on a train. Her father opposes the relationship and decides to marry her to a powerful landlord in the region, a man who has been fixated on her for years. The idea is rain as a recurring sign. The two meet in the rain and every turning point of the narrative takes place in it; that builds the film's visual identity and works together with the music. Prabhas and Trisha lead, with Gopichand opposite them in an openly menacing role. The narrative joins romance to action and moves entirely into violence in the second half. The film was a major box office success in Telugu cinema. Who it's for: those who like 2000s Telugu romantic action. Who it's not for: viewers expecting obsessive behaviour questioned adequately as a threat; the film uses it as genre material.
