Ventilator

The Kamerkar family gathers in the village every year. The reason is the Ganpati festival. This year, three days before it, word comes. The most loved elder of the family is in hospital. The man has gone into a coma and is on a ventilator. Relatives pour into the hospital. Some come from far away, some leave their work. A crowd builds in the hospital corridor. Old matters arrive along with them. Some talk about money, some about old hurts. Meanwhile the preparation for the festival goes on. The account makes you laugh and makes you ache. Ashutosh Gowariker and Jitendra Joshi take the leads, with Sukanya Kulkarni also in the cast, in Rajesh Mapuskar’s Indian film of 2016.
