Jasmine is forty, runs a hair salon in Torre Annunziata on the gulf of Naples, and has the husband, the sons and the settled life she wanted. After her father dies she starts having the same dream, a small girl running into her arms. She follows it into the process of international adoption, and her marriage, her sons’ wellbeing and her own sense of what is permissible all come under strain. Written and directed by Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman, the film is shot in a documentary manner with mostly non-professional performers playing versions of their own lives. Marilena Amato, who plays Jasmine, lived this story in 2016. Nanni Moretti is among the producers, and it screened in Orizzonti Extra at Venice in 2024.
