What Wait 'Til You're Older Is About
Chi-kwong is a small boy. He lives with his father and stepmother, blames the stepmother for his mother's suicide three years earlier, and keeps running away from home. One day he meets a strange old man in a park and drinks a potion the man has made. It ages him within days: first into an adult, then into middle age, then into his eighties. Andy Lau plays the aged versions. Teddy Chan takes the setup of Big and its relatives and moves it to Hong Kong, but shifts quickly out of comedy into family drama. It did well commercially, while critics divided over whether the emotional register and the prosthetics worked.
