Waiting in the Dark

Michiru lost her sight not long ago. Her father died soon afterwards. Now she lives alone in the house. She passes her days without going out. Akihiro is in another world altogether. Being of Chinese descent, he has met with prejudice all his life. At work a man named Toshio picks on him constantly. One day Toshio falls onto the tracks at the station and dies. The only person seen on the platform is Akihiro. He panics, runs, and gets into Michiru’s house. She does not notice that he is there. Akihiro stays quietly in the house for days. A strange closeness forms between the two of them. The film tells it slowly and calmly. It was adapted from a novel by Otsuichi. Rena Tanaka and Chen Bolin appear in the hundred and thirty minute film, a Japanese production Daisuke Tengan finished in 2006.
