Water, Wind, Dust

A boy comes back to his village after a long absence. There is nobody there. The reason is drought. It has emptied the whole region. The boy sets out to find his family. Where he walks there is no water and no shade. The ground is cracked and the wind carries dust. Two searches move at once. One is for his family, the other for water to drink. The film goes on almost without words. Its weight sits in the landscape. The distance between a person and nature is the subject itself. Majid Niroumand plays the lead. Niroumand had appeared in Amir Naderi’s The Runner. The two films are read as companions. The seventy five minute film is an Iranian production by Amir Naderi.
