We Cause Scenes

The documentary is about a group of young people in New York. They are in their twenties and their minds are elsewhere. They decide to stage things in the street. The collective they set up is called Improv Everywhere. Their business is putting on organised pranks. They work in the subway, in parks and in shops. Sometimes hundreds of people freeze at the same moment. Sometimes an absurd scene is built in a crowded place. The people watching do not know it is a performance. The group kept this up for ten years. Over time the line between comedy, performance and art blurred. The film tells that decade from the beginning. Its founder Charlie Todd speaks as well. Charlie Todd and Ben Folds appear in the eighty six minute documentary, an American production Matt Adams finished in 2014.
