What Weak Spot Is About
Adapted from Antonis Samarakis’s 1965 novel, the film is set in Greece under the colonels, the junta that ran the country from 1967 to 1974. An entirely innocent tourism manager is accused of belonging to the illegal resistance, and two security agents set out to drive him to Athens, only for the car to break down in a small village, at which point it becomes steadily less clear who is interrogating whom. Peter Fleischmann directed the French, Italian and West German co-production, sharing the screenplay with Samarakis, Jean-Claude Carrière and Martin Walser. Ugo Tognazzi is the accused man, with Michel Piccoli and Mario Adorf as the two agents.
