In a remote Lebanese village ringed by land mines, Muslims and Christians live alongside each other in peace. As sectarian conflict spreads through the rest of the country, the women of the village go to increasingly inventive lengths to keep their men from hearing about it, first sabotaging the radio and then getting rid of the television altogether. Nadine Labaki wrote it, directed it and appears in it. The comedy is not there to lighten the subject but to make an unbearable one possible to carry.
