Whispers and Moans

The film takes place in Hong Kong. Women who work in the sex trade stand at its centre. They come from different ages and different places. Some are in the work because of debt. Some could not find any other job. The conditions they work in are unsafe. Customers and middlemen put pressure on them. A social worker comes among them. She wants to bring the women together. The idea of forming a union comes up. Not all of the women warm to it. Some are wary of being seen. The film tells that argument from the inside. The screenplay rests on real interviews. Athena Chu Yan and Candice Yu On-On appear in the ninety six minute film, a Hong Kong production Herman Yau finished in 2007.
