Wild Foxes

Valery Carnoy's 2026 French film follows Camille, a young boxer at a sports boarding school. He survives a fatal accident thanks to his closest friend Matteo; he recovers quickly, and then an unexplained pain begins. The subject is being unable to show weakness in a male environment. Camille can tell nobody about the pain; there is no place for it inside the team and saying it would mean ending his career. The narrative leaves it unclear whether the source of the pain is physical or psychological. It is Carnoy's first feature. The boxing sequences are realistic and the cast is young; the camera stays close to bodies. The relationship between Camille and Matteo is left unnamed. Who it's for: those who like European coming-of-age drama and sports narratives. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a clear resolution; the film does not explain the cause of the pain.
