Wonderful Nightmare

Yeon-woo is a successful lawyer, hard, and in need of nobody. Because of a mistake made in the afterlife she dies before her time. To put the error right she is given an offer: for one month she will live somebody else's life as an ordinary housewife. So she wakes up in a house she does not know, beside a husband and a daughter she has never met. Kang Hyo-jin's Korean comedy uses a familiar shape but puts learning to care at the centre of it rather than a choice between career and family. Uhm Jung-hwa plays a woman who rejects all of it at first and then stays of her own accord. The switches between humour and feeling are abrupt, but the film's intention is clear. The question running underneath is what happens when the month is over.
