Yang Yang

Yang Yang’s mother marries her daughter’s track coach. The man becomes Yang Yang’s stepfather. His own daughter, Xiao-Ru, becomes her stepsister. From outside, the two girls look close. But a hidden jealousy runs between them, and it does damage to both. Shawn, Xiao-Ru’s boyfriend, is drawn to Yang Yang, and she is not indifferent to it. The film tells that tension inside the family without building big scenes. The account blames nobody; it keeps its view on the young people. What the two of them do not say to each other carries as much weight as what they do. Sandrine Pinna and Ray Chang take the leads, with Jag Huang also in the cast, in Cheng Yu-chieh’s hundred and twelve minute Taiwanese film, completed in 2009.
