What Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs Is About
Agent Zero is a police officer who enforces the law the way she reads it. After she kills a rapist outside any court, her badge is taken and she goes to prison. Not long afterwards the daughter of a rich politician is kidnapped by a vicious gang, and Zero is let out on the condition that she goes undercover and brings the girl back. Her one tool is a pair of red handcuffs. Yukio Noda's film belongs to the Japanese pinky violence cycle of the seventies: adapted from a manga, extremely violent, sexually explicit and openly political. Miki Sugimoto plays the lead. The real target is not the gang but the system willing to bury anything to get the girl home quietly.
