What Zoo Is About
Belfast, 1941. German aircraft are bombing the city and an order goes out to shoot the large animals at the zoo. Tom and his friends decide not to let that happen to the baby elephant they have named Buster. Colin McIvor directed; Toby Jones is in the cast. It comes from a real case: during the Belfast bombing a keeper took a young elephant home to her own yard every night and hid it there. The film rebuilds that story from the children's side. It is offered as a family film, but more than a thousand people died in those raids.
