Teresa Wright
10 films
Teresa Wright came to the screen in 1941 as Alexandra Giddens in William Wyler's The Little Foxes, and that page records both her arrival and her supporting actress nomination, listed in the same category alongside Patricia Collinge. The following year she was with Wyler again: she played Carol Beldon in Mrs. Miniver, and one of the six Oscars the film gathered was hers. In Sam Wood's The Pride of the Yankees she was Eleanor Gehrig, nominated this time for lead actress; the only statuette that film carried off went to its editor, Daniel Mandell. Three films, and the Academy listed her for all three, twice in a supporting category and once in a leading one. Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt stands here too, and Raoul Walsh's Pursued, with Robert Mitchum; the most recent entry is Somewhere in Time of 1980.
