What The Steel Trap Is About
An assistant bank manager takes a million dollars out of the vault late on a Friday and plans to use the weekend to get to Brazil. The reason for Brazil is simple: no extradition treaty. Andrew L. Stone draws all the tension out of the calendar and the clock, out of flight times, a passport, luggage, delays. Joseph Cotten plays the man and Teresa Wright his wife, who knows nothing. It is eighty five minutes of low budget noir, but tightly cut with no wasted scene. And the real question is less whether he gets caught than what he will do with his own decision.
