Jacques Audiard

Jacques Audiard's Dheepan is the story of a Tamil refugee trying to build a new life in France, and the Cannes Palme d'Or of 2015 went to it. The London Film Festival gave its best film award to A Prophet in the year it first offered that prize, and to Rust and Bone in 2012. On the second occasion the jury chairman David Hare described him as a director with a handwriting of his own, one of the few able to bind music, editing, writing, image, sound, visual design and performance to a single purpose. A Prophet took nine Cesars in France, and Cannes had already given it the Grand Prix.
